Gemino supports ELIA Exchange initiative

The translation industry is known to be a fast-paced industry. Language service providers react to globally changing processes, customer requirements, and service demands with new tools, services, and workflows. At the same time, it appears to be difficult to keep up with these developments exclusively within the framework of studies at institutions of higher learning.

It has been observed time and again that beginners in the translation profession are not, from the point of view of employers, equipped with all the skills and knowledge to quickly become productive workers without costly training to bring them up to speed. The goal of the ELIA Exchange initiative is to close this gap between theory and practice. As a member of the industry organisation ELIA, Gemino GmbH played a leading role in the realisation of this undertaking.

Says Christian Schwendy, Managing Director of Gemino and Vice President of ELIA, “We want to bring employers, universities, and recent graduates together with ELIA Exchange in a simple and effective way in order to promote the exchange of information. One example of this is a comprehensive European database for announcing internships/externships. As a company, we would be happy to use such a resource to get to know our future employees in the present.”
