Gemino develops Client Translation Portal web app

A new web application, Client Translation Portal (CTP), is being tested by Gemino. This web application will allow our clients to easily search existing specialized terminology and translation memories as well as to use machine translation for internal communication safely.

The idea stems from our clients’ need to easily look up more than just their own client-specific specialized terminology, which is extracted during translation and stored in a termbase. This online terminology search is already available through our web application TermCloud. The next logical step was to add the following search options in CTP to the online terminology search.

With a search of the translation memories maintained for each client, one can easily look up how something was translated in the past.

We also recognize a need for machine translation (MT) among our clients – for example, for e-mail communication. Our clients’ employees often still use free online services for this purpose, which entails a certain degree of risk in terms of data protection and confidentiality. With CTP, Gemino offers its clients an alternative that enables contractually clearly defined and secure MT that’s compliant with data protection provisions and under control.

CTP therefore integrates three “research tools” in a single interface to help our clients check terminology or quickly and easily produce small translations themselves, for example for internal use:

1. Specialized terminology that has been extracted during translation
2. Translations from the translation memories
3. Machine translation compliant with data protection provisions

The Client Translation Portal (CTP) is part of our service portfolio for clients. CTP is currently being tested and will be available in April 2023.
